It's Done!

After another week of edits and rewrites, I've got a draft I'm much, much happier with.

Major Changes

  • Streamlined the core systems. Codified the "roll two dice" core mechanic into a thing called an Encounter Roll.
  • Added a Discovery track for each suit, which provides bonuses to Encounter rolls for that suit as well as 2 perks. Mechanically, these bonuses make the Special Encounters way more winnable. Speaking of which...
  • Special Encounters are now PBTA-style "pick from a list" dilemmas. I'm much happier with how these look overall, though I'm still not 100% happy with the Queen/Lair encounters. They're all a little same-y.
  • The process for building the Encounter deck has been modified, so that it escalates during play.

Less Major Changes

  • Each suit's Encounter-building table has been overhauled to some degree.
  • There were some tweaks to certain mutations and items to accommodate or highlight new mechanics.
  • The "Getting Started" was expanded to add some more background to your scientist and the implied setting.
  • Some sections moved around to improve the formatting and layout.

Still to Come

  • I still might fuck around and make some artwork for the game - instead of just editing and mashing up free stock photos.
